Israel Health Ministry: No Connection Between Toddler Deaths

Israel Health Ministry officials are now reporting they do not believe there is a connection between the recent deaths of three toddlers, a reality that had experts concerned, fearing the outbreak of an illness.

Despite the message of reassurance, ministry officials explain that all the results from tests conducted on the toddlers following their deaths are not in, but they are confident the results will not link the cases.

There are still two children in Schneider Children’s Hospital with neurological complications. Dr. Moti Scheinfeld, the director of the hospital’s intensive care medicine reports the 18-month-old girl is showing slight improvement. She was moved to a unit after regaining consciousness but he warns she suffered a major neurological incident and she is not out of the woods yet. A 3-year-old boy who survived a cardiac arrest episode is still serious with no signs of improvement. He remains in a comatose state on a mechanical respirator. Scheinfeld does not believe there is any connection regarding the illness of the two children.
