The management and employees of the Tel Aviv-based TraveLLux Company are in shock after hearing of the tragedy on Tuesday, the accident which resulted in the deaths of 25 people. The company’s general manager flew to Eilat on Tuesday upon receiving the news of the accident to see first-hand what had occurred.
TraveLLux operates tours, dealing primarily with the Russian-speaking community. The bus involved in the accident was carrying tour operators from St. Petersburg in the hope of building a growing market of tourism from Russia to Israel.
The travel agency is receiving many calls from concerned relatives and they explain they are doing everything possible to cooperate with concerned families in St. Petersburg.
In a related matter, family members of the victims arrived in Tel Aviv on Wednesday morning, accompanied with dental records and DNA information to assist in the identification process. Russian physicians and other medical professional also arrived on the flight, as well as psychologists.
Israel announced special air force flights will bring the bodies back home for burial instead of using commercial airlines.

This is so disgusting – because it could so easily have been avoided. If I’m in a taxi or bus that’s speeding, I demand that the vehicle slow down immediately or let me out. At the start of a cab ride, I tell the driver that if he speeds, I reserve the right not to pay altogether. Certainly a bus driver should be DEMANDED that the same thing be done – other people’s lives are in their hands as well as our own. R’L – an utter chilul H’ and disgustinly foolish waste of life. People, we have to wake up and do what’s right. If you are frum – or not – and get in a car that speeds, demand to be let out – how many Yidden died b’nesiras nefesh – our opportunity to be l’kadesh shaim shamayim is so much easier – let’s just do it when the opportunity is there!
very well put lastword. my father zohl zein gezunt always tells me this and now you have also given me chizuk not to be afraid to do whats right. i once sat in a car that was speeding and i couldn’t bring my self to get out in the middle of nowhere and start heading home. b’h i arrived safely, but i lost the opportunity to be me’kadesh shem shamayim
by the way the same is true if the cab driver is smoking of course (yes that happens too sometimes)
Some of these Israeli Bus drivers are almost as dangerous, and crazy,as a Boro Park driver,on a friday morning on 13 ave. The bus drivers as we all know(those of us that have traveled in Egged Buses,or other Buses in Israel)play the game of”Chicken”when it comes to passing another vehicle in Israel. It’s one thing if your’e driving a car,It’s another, when you are a professional Bus driver, with 49 or 57 people on board,on an Israeli highway that has steep inclines, narrow lanes, with NO GUARD RAILS. How can any normal person speed,on such a highway? He destroyed 26 lives for no purpose. It all could have been avoided if the retard wasnt speeding. What can one say? Hashem yerachem.
better to be mr Shmerel who is always late, than “the late mr shmerel”
For the record, I heard an accident-inspector describing the events and there was a guard rail, but it didn’t manage to hold a bus going at that speed.
