Public Security Minister Avi Dichter is expected to announce a decision today which may result in delaying a Jewish Israeli flag parade in Um el-Fahm, a very large and extremely hostile Israeli Arab municipality located in The Triangle area.
Marzel, who heads the Chazit Yehudit Party, petitioned the Supreme Court in the hope of obtaining permission to override an Israel Police refusal to permit him to hold and Israeli flag parade in Um el-Fahm, explaining the municipality is part and parcel of the State of Israel, and there is no reason one should not be able to fly the national flag.
Police are not as patriotic and they are extremely concerned the parade will spark riots. As such, the parade route is not being announced in advance, only the central meeting point. The event is set for this coming Monday.
Marzel applauded the court decision, stating it is unconscionable to think one cannot fly the national flag in Um el-Fahm, which is part of Eretz Yisrael too.
