YWN Israel has learned the IDF is indeed preparing for a major ground forces operation in Hamas-controlled Gaza, waiting for the green light from the political echelon.
During the past week, senior IDF officials have laid out various operational scenarios before the political decision-makers towards bringing a halt to rocket attacks into Israel. The military reports forces are ready and can implement such plans on a moments notice.
While Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni continue calling for an IDF response, Defense Minister Ehud Barak continues to publicly oppose such a move.
