Shimon Sheetrit Looking to Make a Comeback

Former MK Shimon Sheetrit, 62, is now indicating he is interested in returning to Knesset. He left the Knesset over a decade ago, and the former cabinet minister is hoping to be reelected to the Labor slate in Thursday’s primary election. He also served as director of the Jewish Agency for Israel and was shamed in a credit card fraud investigation.

He began his Knesset in 1988 and served until 1996, losing his slot in the elections. During those years he served as science, finance and religious ministers. Sheetrit, a law professor in Hebrew University was also a recipient of the International Bible Contest first prize in his youth.
