Following are the funeral arrangements for some of the Mumbai terror Kedoshim as announced at 2:00pm Monday (Israel time). While the information should be final, there is still much uncertainty surrounding many factors, such as the arrival of the plane from Mumbai and the inspection of the bodies at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute to name a few.
The funeral for Rabbi Gavriel Noach Holtzberg HY”D and Rivka Holtzberg HY”D will take place at Kfar Chabad on Tuesday, 5 Kislev, at 10:30am.
The funeral of Rabbi Aryeh Leibish Teitlebaum HY”D will take place at 2:00pm on Tuesday, 5 Kislev, in Meah Shearim, at the Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Beis Medresh (Miriam HaNeviyah Street). The Kvura will be in Har HaZeisim.
The Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Rebbe Shlita very much wanted to have the levaya today, Monday, but he realized the plane from Mumbai is not scheduled to return to Eretz Yisrael until 10:00pm-11:00pm Monday night. From the airport, the bodies will be taken “for a final inspection” to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.
The Rebbe felt that if the funeral was held in the middle of the night, it would result in too much bitul torah the following morning. The funeral was therefore set for 2:00pm, after the Kollelim are done to minimize bitul torah.
Hespedim will be delivered by many rabbonim including the Rebbe Shlita and the Volover Rebbe Shlita, who is the father of Rav Aryeh Leibish.
Prior to the levaya, the Eida Chareidis Beis Din will convene in the home of Rav Brandsdorfer Shlita to ‘matir his wife’, which will be done following the beis din making a positive identification of the body.

Baruch Dayan Haemes. The most important part is for us to take something upon ourselves to improve in. Thinking too much about the terror these victims must of gone through can chas vesholom lead to not good thoughts. It’s relieving and caring of Yeshiva World News to be so careful to the information posted and the corrections made; like that the woman wasn’t covered. I wanted to know if they’re gonna continue the Levaya from Kfar Chabad to yerushalayim, I really feel that by more than just chabad being at the levaya it’ll truly demonstrate a new outlook as to our achdus for the future.
Once there’s a positive ID on Rabbi Teitelbaum H’YD – why do they have to be Matir his wife?
What abour the Levayas of the other people murdered in the Chabad house, do they not deserve a mention as afterall they were all killed because they were Yidden

Identification may also be required to allow the aveilim to sit Shiva. This may be included in being ‘matir’ the wife.
It means that she will not be considered an aguna since the body has been positively identified and can remarry.
Can anyone please tell me, what time do you estimate the arrival to Har HaZeitim, which part of the Mountain and an estimate of attendance?

“matir his wife” lechorah means that since there hasn’t been anyone in India that knew R’ Liebesh Zt”l he hasn’t been identified yet and so there’s no “eidem” confirming it, so she’s halachicly still considered an “Aguna”.
once 2 people identify him in isreal then she should be like any other almonoh that doesnt need them to be matir her.
I pressume also from the fact that hakadosh r’ bentzion hy’d almonoh isnt having this done,
obviuosly this identification is not clear, & probably dna or dental records are neccassary, in which case they consider that an agunah.

Later reports have the funeral of the Holtzbergs beginning at Kfar Chabad at 1 PM, going on to Shikun Chabad in Yerushalayim, and then to Har HaZeisim. B’soros Tovos!!!
I have seen no mention Of Rabbi Holtzberg’s parents, only his in laws. Does anyone know if his parents are alive, and if he has any other family?

Yes Rabbi Holtzberg’s parents are alive and completely grief-stricken as we all can imagine. They live in Crown heights along with the rest of the family and are now in Israel. Maybe they wanted to keep a low profile at this crazy time? I don’t know… There was every news channel in crown heights, when this happened but you don’t really see them on the media, besides for the police escort they got when leaving to the airport, that’s basically the only picture… but the picture in our minds of the trauma that they, and others are all going through is vivid enough…
