Following the carnage at the Mumbai Chabad House, MK (UTJ) Rav Yaakov Litzman has filed a request with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, that the ministry accept responsibility for protecting Chabad houses around the world.
He stated that the attack once again serves as a reminder of the constant threat, pointing out there are Chabad houses around the world, including some of the most remote locations.
He points out that diplomatic and officials security officials around the world benefit from Chabad houses and their staff, providing religious assistance and services to many operating in an official capacity.
Rav Litzman points out Chabad’s mesirus nefesh to assist all Jews wherever they may be, further stating we must do whatever necessary to ensure this vital institution is permitted to continue, expressing his opinion that it is incumbent on the State of Israel to undertake the security burden for the Chabad emissaries around the world.

I hope I’m wrong, but hes never gonna pull that off
kalmangroner, the reason why he will never pull that off is because Tzipi Livni hates chareidim.
Yeh, let’s see the Israeli government admit that “religious services” are really worth a whole lot for the average jew.
who said chabad wants this? they all belive no harm will come of them, due to the rebbes brocha to all shluchim.
#1 I too hope you are wrong and he does pull it off!
it won’t happen not because of anti-chareidi bias but because it is impractical, possibly illegal in many countries and ain ladavor sof since then all shuls and shtiblech should be protected.
with security guards or without.. Hashem is the only Shomer Israel. IF Hashem wanted this to happen it is for some reason. whether there were gaurds or will be gaurds in the future. man has no power Hakol BYIDI SHAMAYIM CHOTZ MYIRAS SHAMAYIM>>
its easy to say but so hard to accept. We all need to work on our yirat shamayim and take something upon ourselves. (Bli neder)
If the Israeli security wasn’t able to guard by Israel terror attacks, why should they be successful in India, or somewhere else?
Beside the point that this can irritate terrorist to do such acts at these locations.
#8 you are 100% correct!
I have children on Shlichus and we all know it is all part of His plan – we must go on redoubling our efforts for good!!!
Positive action and ahava will certainly hasten Moshiach’s arrival – may it be NOW!
As someone who traveled to alot of other countries I can tell you that the local shuls has a security guard at all times but Chabad never does. I never understood that since the threat is the same to both Shuls. For example in most of the “famous” towns in Italy there are 2 Shuls. A chabad shul and a shul for the local people that was there before Chabad. (why there are 2 shuls is a diffrent subject which is not for now) The local shul always has security most of the time who are from Israel. I think Chabad can and should have security guards as well. This does not mean all Chabad houses where there is Barely a Jewish presence.
I dont think that this is a good idea for chabad because they are going to become a target in the whole world because they have israeli security. the best thing they can do is to take the local pepole where ever they are make sure that they are loyal pepole
Security is needed for Jews everywhere, every sleep-away camp, every resort that hosts Jewish events, every convention for Jews, every school & shul, etc. The Moslem Terrorists are not targeting Chabadnikim rather JEWS all over the world. It is a battle till the end…..
Will every jewish center get help? Yeshivos? In the USA too? Is Litzman going to pay for this? He is nuts. Maybe he’s trying to deflect criticism of gur after they botched the elections in Jerusalem.
Something I noticed in the past (ie before the Mumbai massacre)is the lack of Ahavat Yisrael amongst many frum circles towards Chabad. We are all Jews and equally beloved to G-d whether we are Chabad, Satmar, Ger, Litvish, etc. Chabad in Mumbai, and other Chabad centers, welcome ALL Jews, whether they are Chassidic or not, frum or not. I have heard of many people cautioning other Jews not to ever enrol their child in a Chabad school, not to frequent Chabad Houses or attend their functions, not to mix with Chabad, etc. etc. ad nauseum, even to the extent that should they consider such a thing their membership at their shul be terminated. And this, embarrassing to say, is from ‘frum’ people and ‘frum’ shuls from orthodox Rabbis. WHERE IS THEIR AHAVAT YISRAEL????? I hope we can all learn from this terrible tragedy that we MUST have Ahavat Yisrael and unite as one people to increase in acts of goodness and kindness to bring Moshiach immediately. Moshiach is the ONLY guarantee that we will have peace, that we will have a stable and prosperous economy and the ONLY GUARANTEE that our children will have the best future.
#15 you are right! Moshiach will not come unless there is 100% ahavas Israel and achdus in the Frum Olam.
i believe that # 15 is absolutely correct. There is nothing wrong with chabad, they do plenty for everyone else, and never discriminate against other sects, yet there whole essence is trying to bring all of klal yisroel to a madreiga of serving Hashem. It is ridiculous that people are scorned, in shidduchim and such, for working for the lubabvitch. (By the way I am not Lubabvitch.)
Ahavat Yisrael [15],
I agree with you, however if someone dosen’t send his son to a Chabad school or wouldn’t step into a Chabad hous that is no indication he’s lacking Ahavas Yisroel. We can disagree with respect. We can correct each other with love and with appreciation of the good in each other.
Being shallow about Ahavas Yisroel is not what’s going to bring it on.
With all due respect, it’s an attrocious idea. Chabad have to do with Judaism, not with Medinat Yisrael, and I wouldn’t want to give Medinat Yisrael the drisat regel to claim that Batei Chabad are a strain on their nation etc.
I know that I, for one, as somebody who has lived for many years in Asia, prefer Chabad Houses to many establishment shuls precisely because they are informal, have no security, and present me with no issues of having to pass in front of security cameras in Shabbes, Jewish security working on Shabbes, etc.
Chabad’s security is the Kadosh Baruch Hu, as it is for all of us.
I AGREE WITH NUMBER 15’S POINTS. AND 17 IS ALSO RIGHT. NOT ONLY DOES CHABAD HELP ANYONE AND EVERYONE BUT THEY DO IT WHOLEHEARTEDLY AND DON’T ASK FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN, OTHER THAN (LIKE AVRAHAM AVINU) FOR PEOPLE TO ADD IN GOODNESS AND KINDNESS AND IN KEEPING ANOTHER MITZVAH. THEIR DOORS AND HEARTS ARE ALWAYS OPEN TO ONE AND ALL NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT OR TIME OF YEAR. THEY WILL WALK MILES JUST TO GO TO A HOSPITAL TO BLOW SHOFAR FOR ONE SINGLE JEW! THEIR MESIRAS NEFESH IS UNREAL. THIS PAST SHABBOS THERE WAS A MINYAN WITH FORTY PEOPLE AT THE CHABAD HOUSE IN INDIA (AT A DIFFERENT UNDISCLOSED LOCATION) AND THERE IS ALREADY ANOTHER SHLIACH EN ROUTE TO TAKE OVER.
Does anyone know if the rumour is true, that two of the terrorists YM”Sh rented rooms in Nariman House posing as Thai students?
