MK Zevulun Orlev of the newly-formed right-wing Bayit Yehudi Party deplored the Friday night press conference given by Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni due to the events in Mumbai.

Orlev stated that her actions were in no way connected to saving lives and a press statement could have been released by the ministry instead of the senior minister deciding to engage in public chilul Shabbos in an official capacity.

Aides to the senior minister stated the Bayit Yehudi Party is looking for cheap election publicity on the back of the tragedy that occurred in India.

Likud on the other hand accuses the foreign minister of “stealing valuable air time to promote her election campaign,” calling her press conference a “cynical exploitation” of the Mumbai attack.
