12:30 IL: The cabinet a short time ago approved the release of 250 “security prisoners” as another ‘good-will gesture’ to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert decided to commit to another prisoner release to coincide with the Muslim Feat of the Sacrifice, which takes place in a week.
Shas ministers did not support the move, which they feel further complicates efforts towards the release of Gilad Shalit. Also objecting to the move were Ministers Shaul Mofaz and Yaakov Edri of Kadima.
The government states none of the security prisoners being released are affiliated with Hamas and none “have blood on their hands”.

I can’t believe they are going through with this after what just happened in Mumbai…we need more of these “caring people” (“pera adam”s!) on the streets??
