Shlomei Emunim Seeking Funding for New Chareidi Daily

papar.jpgWhile the competition remains stiff among chareidi newspapers to enlist subscribers, askan Yaakov Berger, representing Shlomei Emunim is off to the United States to seek out investors for a new chareidi daily.

According to the project organizers, they already have commitments from 4,000 subscribers who are willing to order the newspaper if it gets up and running. They hope that when that number climbs to 5,000, they will get up and running.

Those already in the chareidi newspaper system are somewhat more skeptical, explaining that with the current financial realities, they are not as confident a new project would bear fruit. In addition they explain, such an undertaking requires an investment of millions of dollars.

Even if 5,000 subscriptions are reached, that is not enough to support such an undertaking one experienced newspaper operator explains.

Shlomei Emunim officials are actually of a different opinion, explaining that now is the time, since there is widespread disappointment with the current chareidi dailies and as such, many will change over their subscriptions to a new entry into the chareidi market in the hope for something better – enough so that it will be self sufficient.

Shlomei Emunim askanim add that during the recent municipal elections, the daily Hamodia all but ignored the election, proof that there is a need and an audience for a new daily that knows what it means to responsibly cover newsworthy content for readers.

  1. Good point! so the Hamodia will not mention one word about the upcoming general elections in Israel either?

    puleeeeze.

    get a life, dude.

Hamodia is a ger paper, and they chose to ignore the election!

Why should they have covered it??? Why?

Lets see: How about the fact that 95-year-old gedolim are running around campaigning on behalf of someone at massive rallies and asifos. Is that not news-worthy?!

  2. thats the problm The HaModia be is the only english newspaper what goes around the whole usa in there is no competition so thay do what they wont with out caring that other pepole will be hurt

  3. Great news! its about time. My hopes are that the hamodia goes down the drain and then they will see that people knew the truth about them all along!

  4. Uh guys they r talking about the israeli hamodia which is not related to the american one.
The american hamodia is an awesome paper well written and “mature”.

  5. The Hamodia in the US is definitely covering the elections in Israel. Do any of you read it? This article is not talking about the Hamodia in the US.

  6. The hamodia did have coverage of the elections, all they left out was the machloikes and chillul hashem that went on. and KOL HAKOVOD they left it out.
If you want read about machloikis you can buy the the yid, the blatt, etc.

  7. hey, what about the Yated, I read that paper, not a Gerer paper, and I didn’t know about the elections except though the TYW I think the Machlokes was too much that the topic was avoided to watch out from LashonHara

  8. Ah BH the soton of sinaas chinom and machloikis is alive and well. I sometimes wonder why we all say ani maamin b’vias hamoshiach every day. The Bostoner Rebbe Shlita of Israel has called for sholom. Meanwhile another chareidi group is looking for investors in a newspaper which is highly likely to pursue more machloikis. Keep it up guys. I kinda like it here in New York City in galus. Nice house, nice corporate america job bh. Who needs ahavas yisroel and peace and moshiach anyway?

  9. #6: “What Gedolim? Israeli Gedolim.” I find it hard to believe you are serious. We are Yidden, and those are OUR Gedolim. Perhaps we live in America, England, South Africa, Russia, Austrailia, or Israel. But they are our leaders. If the Navi, Sanhedrin, or Tanna gave a p’sak, the Yidden in Bavel did not listen?

  10. the only reason why the Hamodia doesnt write about the machlokes in the elections are because:
    1) they dont have to write about things that include machlokes, which sometimes can make it seem as if they are taking sides. This is one thing they dont want. Even if they write it in a very neutral way the readers that are extremely into the elections whichever side they are on will define the article in such a way which will make the Hamodia seem Biosed.
    2) the things that the poskonim poskin there in israel don’t have anything with us and will not help any of us either so why put it in?

  11. If the Navi, Sanhedrin, or Tanna gave a p’sak, the Yidden in Bavel did not listen?
U R mixing up your history, the Yidden in Bavel did not heed to the words of Ezra from Yerushayalim to return and considered themselves much more chasuv than the Yidden in Israel.
Did you ever wonder why majority of yeshivos learn the Talmud Baavli and not Talmud Yerushaylmi?
