In what appears to be a crime-related explosion, one person was killed and two injured when an explosive device went off close to noon near a bus stop at the intersection of Derech Namir and Yehuda Maccabi Street in Tel Aviv.
The area has been closed down following the explosion. One of the injured is a 13-year-old boy who was standing at the bus stop when a vehicle blew up. He was injured as a result of the magnitude of the blast.
The second victim was traveling in a vehicle behind the vehicle that blew up. Police shortly following the deadly explosion believe it is crime family related, perhaps a reckoning of accounts between underworld families.
According to multiple media reports, the senior underworld figure who was killed in Monday’s car bombing in Tel Aviv is mob kingpin Yaakov Alperon.
