Senior Defense Ministry official Amos Gilad on Sunday morning told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) host Razi Barkai that at present, there are no plans to order a major IDF ground forces incursion into Gaza despite the sudden escalation in rocket attacks into southern Israel.
Gilad stated the he is confident the ceasefire in Gaza is not over and the relative quiet of the past months can be achieved again.
Regarding captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, he reports there is no news. Gilad was among the outspoken supporters of the ceasefire, stating with a modicum of certainty that the ceasefire will facilitate government efforts to obtain Shalit’s release from Hamas-controlled Gaza.
