Kassam Rockets Continue to Fly – Barak Doesn’t Respond


A growing number of Greater Sderot Area residents are questioning why the government is not ordering the IDF to respond to what has become a resumption of frequent Kassam rocket attacks.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak has closed Gaza crossings, but seems unwilling to take military or other action towards halting the attacks, releasing statements that Israel views the ceasefire as still intact. There have been a number of limited aerial assaults, which do not seem adequate to halt the rocket attacks.

Rockets pounded southern Israel on Thursday, Thursday night, and resumed on Friday morning. Baruch Hashem there were no injuries, but the army is not being ordered to take action, Barak seemingly more interested in weighing political realities ahead of the general election than the defense and well-being of southern residents.

In a Friday morning rocket attack, a women approximately 70-years-old appeared to have suffered a heart attack. In addition, a number of vehicles and at least one home in Sderot were damaged but Israel has yet to respond with the ground forces. PA (Palestinian Authority) sources on Friday morning reported that the Israel targeted a number of terrorists from the air in the Bet Lahiya area of northern Gaza. Injuries were reported. Hamas boasted responsibility for the Friday morning rocket attacks.
