The European Union has released a statement objecting to Israel’s recent demolition of a number of illegal Arab homes in the eastern portion of Yerushalayim.
EU officials point out that such actions are a violation of international law and should not be tolerated, calling upon Israel to halt the policy immediately.

The Israeli policy of tearing down people’s homes because the government is annoyed with them, regardless of why, is a bit on the dumb side. Given the high cost of housing relative to income it is obvious they have a housing shortage. Whether in East Jerusalem or in Jewish settlements in the West Bank, whether because of a zoning dispute or in retaliation for political crimes, tearing down perfectly good housing is stupid.
