At least one terrorist was killed and two injured in exchanges with gunfire with IDF soldiers in the Kissufim area of the Gaza border on Wednesday. The incident occurred during the late morning hours.
Terrorists were detected placing explosive devices in the area. When an IDF force arrived, it came under fire. Terrorists used automatic weapons, detonated explosives and fired mortar shells. One soldier was lightly injured in the exchange of fire.
In the meantime, Defense Minister Ehud Barak has ordered the resumption of fuel deliveries to Hamas-controlled Gaza to ensure an adequate supply to provide electricity. Earlier on Wednesday, Barak also instructed security officials to prepare for the reopening of Gaza crossings on Thursday morning.
In the meantime, the government does not make any mention of progress or ongoing efforts towards the release of captive soldier Gilad Shalit.
