What the treasury insists it is unable to do, and others accuse the government of an unwillingness to do, the Gerrer Rebbe Shlita has succeeded in doing, distributing NIS 500 to families with 5 or more children.
The funds are intended for chareidi families only, those living in periphery areas, not in major chareidi communities.
Those seeking assistance must formally apply to Yad L’Mishpacha and they must attest they do not have a television in their homes and that they are committed to learning, at least one hour a day.
Those families interested in learning more may phone 08-862-2777, which will become operational on Tuesday. One may also be able to leave one’s fax number and application forms will be sent. It should be pointed out that the aid is intended for children under the age of 18.
Areas included in the gemach’s territory include Ohr Yehuda, Ofakim, Ohr Akiva, Eldad, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Betar Illit, Bet Shemesh, Bet Shean, Beersheva, Be’er Yaakov, Givat Ze’ev, Dimona, Zichron Yaakov, Tiveria, Chatzor HaGlilit, Yerucham, Yavne, Yavniel, Kochav Yaakov, Kfar Chabad, Migdal Ha’emek, Carmiel, Matityahu, Modi’in Illit, Netivot, Nahariya, Netanya, Afula, Emanuel, Arad, Tzfas, Kiryat Shmona, Kiryat Malachi, Kiryat Yearim, Kiryat Arba, Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Ata, Rechasim, Rosh HaAyin and Sderot.

Is this a 1-time donation of NIS 500? Aound $125. What does that help? If that’s what it is, then I can understand the gov’t not wanting to get busy with a meaningless thing like that.
Is this a one time grant or is it going to be monthly?
hmmmmm, i thought coming from the Gerer Rebbe, they’d be getting more… doesn’t ger have, like a ton of money?
beeps,
think of how many people they are giving this to!!!!!!!!
No 1. is probably not familiar with the poverty roaming among large families; I can assure you NIS 500 helps very much and is a meaningfull thing. (I gave once NIS 200 to a single mother with two children – indirectly – in a small town in Israel and you should have seen her running happily to the shops on Friday!)
Most Americans who B”H have no concept or appreciation for real poverty should not underestimate the concept of this financial assistance.
The money is important but equally vital is the fact that somebody, in this case the Gerrer Rebbe shlita, has acted.
For struggling families , help is help.
It’s also possible that the Rebbe’s actions are to encourage others to respond in kind.
If your so inspired ,respond and support the many beautiful Tzedokos that help Aniyim in EY or here in America.
Kupat Hair, Yad Eliezer, Rav Meir Bal Hanais etc..
Tomchai Shabbos,Masbia soup kitchens, Keren Aneyim etc…
I tried calling several times but the number is always busy. Anyone get through?

#1 It is planned to be monthly, starting with a 3 month trial period.
Beeps, that was unworthy of you, I would expect better!
Whilst I am not a Gerrer chossid, I must applaud them on this initiative. Kol Hakavod!
That is called “DOING SOMETHING”
What about residents of Tel Tzion??
MONTHLY!
Kol hakavod to askan for making a point that wouldn’t occur to most Americans. Unfortunately, poverty in Israel is very real. It doesn’t mean cutting back this year on the amount of days spent in Miami on winter vacation. Poverty in Israel is such that families of 10 or 12 share 1 chicken for shabbos.
Each organization listed is very worthwhile to receive donations. for contact info visit Olam Hatorah at http://www.torahindex.com
The Gerer Rebbe is a true leader of the Jewish prople. He is a priceless asset of ALL Jews.
Thanks, G123. I hadn’t noticed that.
