Speaking at a Monday night election event, Shas Party leader Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai once again lashed out at Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and her Kadima Party, citing her allegations that Shas tried to ‘extort’ money in coalition negotiations.
Yishai angrily repeated that it is unfortunate and unacceptable that larger sums of money are given to other parties but the word ‘extortion’ is only used in reference to Shas and other chareidi parties in reference to their budgetary demands.
Yishai explained that Shas proudly remained in opposition, unwilling to accept the money, committed to protecting the future of Jerusalem as well as to the needy and underprivileged.
