Leaders of the Shaul Mofaz camp in Kadima are seeking to secure the second slot in the party lineup ahead of the general election.
Eitan Haberman, the party’s legal expert, announced on Tuesday that this is not possible without amending the party’s charter. Haberman explains that the charter, written by the party founder, Ariel Sharon, does not permit securing a slot for Mofaz without obtaining the approval of registered party members, numbering about 75,000.
Mofaz supporters feel that following the recent primary election, he should not be compelled to compete for a slot in the lineup for the general election.
