Jerusalem mayoral contender Arkadi Gaydamak has turned to the Jerusalem District Court, requesting his known name be added to the election ballots in the Jerusalem mayoral race.

In accordance with Israeli law, the ballots will say Aryeh Bar-Lev, his legal name which appears on his identity card. Interior Ministry and election officials explain they are compelled by law to use that name only.

Gaydamak is aware that few if any voters realize Aryeh Bar-Lev is indeed the billionaire mayoral candidate.
