Premier-designate Tzipi Livni has informed Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik that she plans to inform President Shimon Peres that she is unable to form a government and as such, she is calling for national elections.

Livni is expected to meet with the president during the afternoon or evening hours on Sunday.
