Jerusalem Prosecutor Eli Abarbanel has flown to the United States where he will be meeting with FBI representatives to discuss Israel’s request that Moshe (Morris) Talansky be granted immunity from criminal charges in America to permit him to testify and advance the state’s case against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Abarbanel heads a team of senior police investigators and others involved in the investigations against Olmert, and while in America, they will also seek to question other witnesses in the cases against Olmert.
Earlier, the FBI liaison to Israel met with State Prosecutor Moshe Lador, who explained Israel’s position, seeking immunity for Talansky in America so he can testify in Israel without fear of self-incrimination.
Abarbanel is also expected to meet with Talansky’s legal team while visiting in the USA.
