SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Today, Wednesday, is day 113 of the virtual Gaza ceasefire.

*Today is Gilad Shalit’s 836th day in Hamas captivity.

*IDF soldiers taking part in counter-terror operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron on Tuesday night apprehended four suspects.

*A closure has been placed on residents of PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron until after Yom Kippur.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*A fire broke out in a shul on Yehuda Street in Kiryat Gat in the middle of the night. No injuries were reported.

*PM Olmert has returned from Russia where he hoped to persuade officials to refrain from selling weapons to Syria. Upon his return, the prime minister stated, “they understand our position”.

*The list for candidates in the local elections, including Yerushalayim, has closed. No new candidates may submit their names.
