A Canadian court has extended the remand of Ehud Tannenbaum, the Israeli arrested on charges of hacking into the computers of a Canadian firm and making off with 1.8 million Canadian dollars.
While it was first believed he would be released on bail, Canadian officials learned his is also wanted by authorities in the United States, Sweden, Russia, Holland and other countries, prompting the decision to revoke bail.
Tannenbaum first became known to the public as “The Analyzer” when he broke into Pentagon computers in 1998.
In 2002, Tannenbaum, now 29, was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Tel Aviv District Court and a High Court appeal was rejected. He was jailed for local hacking crimes.
The US Federal Prosecution now has 60 days to file a formal extradition request.
