Aides to Minister of Transportation Shaul Mofaz explain he did not quit politics and he is returning to active duty after Rosh Hashanah. He never cleared his office and did not intend to break from politics after losing in the Kadima elections, but just took a short vacation.

In the meantime, senior players in the Mofaz camp are calling for unity as newly-elected party leader Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni works to establish a coalition government.

On the other side, there are still calls for an investigation into allegations of “irregularities” in the party’s leadership race, and the matter may even make its way to the Office of the State Comptroller.
