According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, there are 7,337,000 million residents in Israel as we approach Rosh Hashanah 5769. This number represents a 1.8% increase from last year. 75.6% are Jews and the Arabs comprise 20% of the population.
*The Arab sector growth exceeded that of the Jews, 2.6% to 1.6%.
*151,679 babies were born, a 2.4% increase;
*28.4% of the population is under 14 (as compared to 17% in western countries);
*9.8% of the population is over 65 (as compared to 15% in western countries);
*For every 1,000 women aged 75, there are 672 men of the same age;
*Jewish women have an average of 3 children, Arabs 4;
*4,900 people moved into a community in Yehuda or Shomron;
*6,400 people moved out of Jerusalem and 2,200 left Haifa;
*Bnei Brak is the most densely populated city with 20,680 people per mile;
