Life Sentence for Terrorist Who Dispatched Minister’s Murderer

court hammer2.jpgLife in prison plus 80 years was the sentence handed down on Monday by the Jerusalem District Court on Ramallah resident Majidi Rechima Rimawi, 43, for ordering the assassination of Tourism Minister Rechavam Ze’evi.

Rimawi was a member of the Islamic Jihad and took part in the planning of numerous attacks against Israeli targets. In 2001, after completing careful planning, he sent the assassins who shot and killed the minister in the Hyatt Hotel in Jerusalem. The terrorists apprehended for carrying out the attack were sentenced to life in prison as well. On Monday, it was Rimawi’s turn.

Prosecuting the case was Geula Cohen. The justices hearing the case were Yaakov Tzaban, Gila Kanfi-Shteinitz, and Rafi Carmel.
