IDF Spokesman in Arabic Avichay Adraee revealed on Wednesday that Hezbollah has been trying in recent months to rebuild an underground weapons production site in the heart of a residential neighborhood in the Dahiah area of southern Beirut.
The site is located near a school and under residential buildings,
According to Adraee, Israel already conveyed information about Hezbollah’s attempts to rebuild the site to the oversight committee at the beginning of January 2025. As a result, a surprise inspection was carried out at the site, but aerial photos revealed that Hezbollah was tipped off about the date of the inspection and evacuated engineering equipment from the site in advance.
It was also reported that after the inspection was completed, the equipment was returned to the site and the construction work resumed, a serious violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.
“The IDF is committed to continuing to implement the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel and to prevent any attempt by Hezbollah to re-establish itself,” the IDF spokesperson said.
