According to Jerusalem mayoral candidate Rabbi Meir Porush, in addition to land claims in the eastern capital, to serve as the capital of a Palestinian state, the PA (Palestinian Authority) in ongoing negotiations with Israel is claiming rights to 7,000 housing units in western areas of the capital, citing their claims from 1948.
Claims to property in the capital relate to many neighborhoods, including Talbiyeh, Ein Kerem, German Colony, Katamon, Baka, Har Nof (Dir Yassin) and others.
It appears there is a growing sentiment among eastern Jerusalem’s
Arab residents that the division of Yerushalayim is inevitable, and they are preparing themselves for that eventuality. As the partition barrier is being completed around the capital, there are the fears of being ‘cut off’ and more and more Arabs are looking for living alternatives in the western areas of the Holy City.
Porush stresses that now, more than ever, Israel is compelled to show the Arabs that Yerushalayim will remain the undivided Jewish capital, and making announcements is not enough, but we must back up the statements with actions, namely massive construction of Jewish homes in all areas of the city, including construction in Gilo, Har Choma, East Talpiot, Pisgat Ze’ev and Ramat Shlomo (Reches Shuafat), areas that America views as “occupied Arab East Jerusalem,” areas that serve vital security interests of Israel and Jerusalem.
The mayoral hopeful also calls for ignoring American objections and moving ahead with the E1 project, namely construction of Jewish communities intended to result in land contiguity from Jerusalem to Maale Adumim.

Given that most secular Israelis (i.e. the ones who run the country) won’t be adversely affected, it is likely that the hilonim will support giving over much of Jerusalem, particularly if the area is occupied by Orthodox Jews. Indeed, many of the hilonim would happiest if they could give back Jerusalem to the Arabs, and not have to resettle the Jewish inhabitants in the zionist state.

Let all holocaust survivors get back their truly owned properties in Europe – citing claims since 1939-1945.
