According to the Kuwaiti newspaper el-Jarida, Ahmed Quriea (Abu Ala), the chief PA (Palestinian Authority) negotiator, is planning to unseat PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).

According to the report, as Abu Mazen prepares to complete his term in office, Abu Ala is planning a takeover, possibly assuming the top spot by force if need be, adding he has already made the necessary arrangements with armed elements in the PA, gunmen aligned with Fatah’s al-Aqsa Brigade.

The report adds Abu Ala is close to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who even advised him prior to his granting the interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper.
