A PA (Palestinian Authority) resident in his 40s was apprehended in Netiv HaAsarah in the Sderot area as he tried making his way to Gaza, where he wished to visit relatives.
The suspect explained that entering Green Line Israel from Tulkarem was not particularly problematic for him, and from there, he caught rides and walked, making his way to the Sderot district. Upon approaching Netiv HaAsarah, he saw IDF soldiers, prompting him to enter the community.
Once inside, he entered a home and helped himself to the Shabbos food on the stove, in the refrigerator and kitchen cupboards. He also began searching the home and did pocket an unspecified quantity of jewelry and other valuables.
At one point, a member of the house awakened and realized what was going on, calling police. Sderot police arrived in time and placed the suspect in custody, returning the valuables to the family.
