MAJOR DEVELOPMENT: Hezbollah Attempts To Murder Netanyahu And Wife In Drone Attack On Caesarea Home

A drone fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon that exploded in the central seaside town of Caesarea early on Saturday targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private home, his office said. The premier and his wife were not present and no injuries were reported.

The short statement from Netanyahu’s office came after the IDF said that “a building had been hit” in the upscale town.

Statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake. This will not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing our just war against our enemies in order to secure our future. I say to Iran and its proxies in its axis of evil:

Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price. We will continue to eliminate the terrorists and those who dispatch them. We will bring our hostages home from Gaza. And we will return our citizens who live on our Northern border safely to their homes. Israel is determined to achieve all our war objectives and change the security reality in our region for generations to come.

Together, we will fight, and with G-d’s help – together, we will win.”

Axios report said that the drone hit the prime minister’s house. “This is the first time since the beginning of the war that a target affiliated directly with Netanyahu has been hit,” it reported, without elaboration. The Guardian also said the house was hit and sustained “superficial damage.”

The IDF said the drone was one of three launched from Lebanon, and that the other two were shot down.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant condemned the strike, calling it an attack on “the State of Israel and its symbols of government” and a direct threat to Netanyahu and his family.

“The security establishment will continue to attack any terrorist actors and will strike with force any enemy that harmed or tries to harm the State of Israel, our actions all over the Middle East have proven this to date, and will prove it in the future as well.”

“The attempts of the Hezbollah organization to discourage us and prevent us from achieving the goals of the war will not succeed,” he added.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin held a conversation with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant today, discussing recent adjustments to US military positioning, including the deployment of an anti-missile system to bolster Israel’s defenses against regional threats, according to a statement from the Pentagon.

During the call, Austin expressed his relief that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was unharmed after an attempted drone attack on his residence in Caesarea.

Knesset speaker Amir Ohana has criticized Iran for making a “big mistake” by targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a drone strike on his Caesarea residence today.

“Iran, by means of its proxy Hezbollah, made a big mistake today,” Ohana, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, stated during an interview on Channel 12.

Ohana noted a distinction between Israel’s actions against terror leaders, including those in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the attack on Netanyahu. He explained that while Israel has been clear about its goal to eliminate terror group leaders, the drone attack targeted the prime minister of a democratic, sovereign state. “Doing so was a big mistake and they will pay a price,” he reiterated.

“In my opinion, incidentally, after they pay the price, they’ll be sorry they ever learned to fly a paper plane, never mind a drone,” Ohana added.
