A YEAR LATER: Sirens Blare In Gaza Border Area, IDF Foils Hamas Rocket Barrage

Sirens blared in the Gaza border area at 6:31 a.m. on October 7, 2024,  exactly a year after the murderous October 7 assault.

Following the sirens, the IDF  said that four projectiles crossed into the Sufa area from the southern Gaza Strip. Three were intercepted and the fourth fell into an open area. Baruch Hashem, there were no injuries or damage.

Shortly later, the IDF said that the army foiled a larger rocket attack planned by Hamas by striking rocket launchers and terror tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip only moments before the planned attack at 6:30 a.m.

“The IDF thwarted an immediate threat following prior preparation and identification of the intention of the Hamas terror organization to fire at Israel,” the IDF spokesperson said.

“Air Force fighter jets recently attacked Hamas launch positions and underground routes throughout the Gaza Strip. During the night, the Air Force also struck targets in central Gaza that posed a threat to IDF forces operating in the area, and artillery fire was also carried out.”

“The IDF had prepared in advance for various terror scenarios and is acting accordingly, both offensively and defensively. The Home Front Command’s instructions save lives. The public is requested to continue adhering to these guidelines.”

Security officials had warned that Hamas will try to disrupt October 7 memorial events with rocket fire – including toward central Israel – or via other attacks.
