The family of Idan Shtivi, H’yd, who was thought to have been abducted alive to Gaza on October 7th, was informed by IDF representatives on Monday, a year later, that Hamas terrorists murdered him during the massacre and his body is being held captive in Gaza.
Shtivi, H’yd, 28, an amateur photographer, was asked by friends to photograph workshops they were leading at the Nova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im. He arrived at the site at 6 a.m., less than an hour before Hamas began firing rockets at Israel and swarms of bloodthirsty terrorists arrived at the festival.
Idan tried to help two friends escape and began fleeing the area in his car but soon encountered terrorists on the road. He turned around his car and started driving in the other direction but the terrorists continued shooting, causing him to veer off the road, where his car hit a tree. The car was later found, covered in blood and strewn with bullets. His friends’ bodies were found but Shviti was listed as missing until January, when the IDF confirmed that he was abducted to Gaza and was presumed to be alive.
Shtivi, from Petach Tikvah, loved nature, animals, and photography, and was about to begin his second year of studies in environmental sciences at Reichman University. His family and friends say that he always thought about others and put them first.
He left behind his parents and three siblings.
