Hamas leader Khaled Meshal has received the letter sent to imprisoned IDF soldier Gilad Shalit by his father. The letter was sent to Shalit via a channel of intermediaries.

Visiting Damascus, French President Nicolas Sarkozy handed the letter to Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and now, the letter has made its way to the Hamas leader, who is also based in Syria.
