HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu Shlita has come out in support of Nir Barkat, the secular candidate in the Jerusalem mayoral race.
According to a Kol Chai Radio report, the mayoral hopeful learned of the support of the former Rishon L’Tzion from one of his son’s, Shlomo Eliyahu, and from the Rav’s personal assistant, Rabbi Shmuel Zafrani.
According to all the election polls, Barkat remains ahead against Meir Porush and Uri Lupoliansky, and ties in a race against former Shas leader Aryeh Deri.
