Hezbollah fired at least 85 rockets at the western Galil on Tuesday evening and overnight Wednesday, including Nahariya and other areas where residents have not been evacuated
About 20 rockets were fired at Kiryat Shmona, seven of which fell inside the city. Ten rockets were intercepted over Meron and the remainder exploded in open areas, sparking fires. In a neis and B’chasdei Hashem, no one was injured.
Hezbollah stated that the barrages were in retaliation for IDF strikes that it claimed killed two Lebanese citizens and three children.
Residents of Israel’s north are fuming at the situation. Rita Ben-Yair, the head of the Fighting for the North movement, issued a statement saying: “The time has come to change the equation, abandon fixed patterns, and exact a price from the state of Lebanon. It’s not feasible that our houses are burning and Lebanon is not burning. It’s time to win this war. We will not return [to our homes] with a surrender agreement.”
“We are seeing the new routine where the situation of the north, now mostly empty of its residents, is ignored. Israel’s north is part of the country and it is time to launch an offensive. We will not be sitting ducks.”
Shlomo Salem, a member of the Shlomi city council, said: “Thousands of residents are under an unprecedented attack, children and parents are shaking in shelters. How long will the policy of ‘containment’ last? We demand a serious and powerful attack that will shake the whole of Lebanon. W we call on the prime minister to respond and destroy Hezbollah.”
