As the nation’s 1.46 million public school children begin the new school year on Monday, Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu stated if elected prime minister, one of his first steps will be to remove “The Nakba” from Israeli school books – explaining Education Minister Prof. Yuli Tamir saw fitting to include what the Arabs call “The Tragedy” in the Israeli books, teaching how they claim they were ousted from their homes and their land.
Netanyahu stated we must return Jabotinsky and Ben-Gurion, to once again instill a patriotism and pride in the students, to bring them close to Jewish values.
Responding to harsh criticism of the public school system earlier in the week, Tamir stated the system is quite impressive and has made great strides towards achieving a higher level, rejecting all criticism of a failing system as baseless.
Interestingly, in the latest international mathematics grading exam, Iran even scored higher than Israel critics of the minister point out.
