The IDF has instructed soldiers manning checkpoints not to eat or smoke in public, a move geared at recognizing the religious sensibilities of Muslims, who fast during the days of the month of Ramadan, which begins Monday, September 1st. In addition, a larger number of soldiers will be assigned to checkpoints and they will operate longer hours, seeking to facilitate the process of crossing the Green Line into “Israel proper” during Ramadan. A larger number of Muslims will also be permitted onto Har HaBayis.
Israeli Arab citizens will be permitted entry into PA autonomous areas, and packages will be delivered to security prisoners and terrorists imprisoned in Israel. Senior IDF Civil Administration officials have met with Muslim Waqf officials, and a larger number of worshippers will be permitted access to the mosques on Har HaBayis.
The army explains it is relaxing restrictions on PA residents in consideration of the holy month.

What a disgrace. We have to show sensibilities to the religious beliefs of our enemies who would love nothing better than to kill us yet to our own brethren we can trample on their religious feelings and sensitivities.
