One of the most senior news analysts in Israel today, Ehud Ya’ari, of Channel 2, is alleged to have assaulted a male nurse in Sheba Medical Center. A complaint has been filed with the hospital, alleging a hospital employee was assaulted physically and verbally, and threatened by the senior news personality.
According to a Yediot Achronot report, Ya’ari on Shabbos came to visit him mother, who is a patient in an internal medicine unit, and complained to a male nurse, Timor Razib, that the floor was wet and presented a hazard. Timor agreed and called for maintenance to dry the area, and in the meantime, spread a sheet over the floor to prevent someone from slipping.
According to Timor and a physician, Ya’ari lost his cool at some point and shoved him (Timor) against a wall and verbally insulted him, using defamatory language.
Witnesses are quoted as explaining that nurses in the area suggested that Timor file a complaint with police, which prompted Ya’ari to add, “Watch out for yourself. I can destroy your career”.
Timor filed a complaint with the hospital’s nursing labor representative. Hospital officials released a statement that they are investigating the incident. Ya’ari declined to comment.
