State Comptroller Justice Micha Lindenstrauss on Wednesday is releasing a report that is most damaging to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, this time referring to his tenure as minister of industry & trade. The report, which is the result of a one-year investigation, addresses many improprieties and wrongdoing involving Olmert, his deputy minister and senior civil servants during his tenure.
Most likely, the report will serve as fuel for the media for a day or two at most, and it will then go the way of other state comptroller reports, filed away in the government archives. In the meantime, police are continuing multiple investigations against the prime minister, pertaining to various time periods in his political career. Police are leaking statements to the media that a criminal indictment against the prime minister is likely.
