Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Tuesday is scheduled to fly to Alexandria for a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Intelligence Chief General Omar Suleiman.
Included on the topics for discussion are the continued captivity of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit and the ceasefire in Gaza. They is much anger in Israel over the fact that the government opted to address the return of the bodies of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser prior to cutting a deal for the release of a live soldier, Shalit. The feelings of frustration and contempt are compounded by the fact that the government continues releasing prisoners to the PA while the Shalit issue is all but ignored.
Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office deny reports that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is planning to take part in the meeting.
