“I do not wish to get into it,” stated Defense Minister Ehud Barak, when asked on Israel Radio on Wednesday morning to explain why Israel continues releasing terrorists while Gilad Shalit remains imprisoned by Hamas.
“There is some logic to the prime minister’s decision,” stated Barak, who added Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated he is committed to working towards obtaining Shalit’s release.
In short, Mr. Barak lacked any concrete response, and he has not signaled any opposition to the cabinet’s latest good-will gesture, the release of 199 terrorists and security prisoners.
