Israel’s Ministry of Health has approved the use of Januvia for people with type 2 diabetes. The once-a-day pill, along with exercise and a proper diet assists in lowering blood sugar levels, the manufacturer reports.
Israel’s Prof. Itamar Raz, Dr. Julio Weinstein and Prof. Avi Krasik were part of the research team that developed the drug.
Weinstein calls the pill a “real breakthrough,” explaining it can significantly lower one’s blood sugar level.
At present, only the Leumit and Maccabi HMOs have approved coverage for the drug.
