An estimated 5,000 members of Israel’s Ethiopian Jewish community protested in Jerusalem on Sunday demanding the cabinet reverse its recent decision to halt aliyah from Ethiopia.
The protestors are calling on the Government of Israel to bring the remaining members of their community home to Israel – with many Israelis explaining members of their families are now stranded in Ethiopia.
A number of protestors were placed under arrest after they tried blocking traffic in the area of the government complex. The protestors accuse the government of abandoning them and family members, rejecting any attempt to justify the recent decision to officially end immigration from Ethiopia to Israel.
