Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Salem Fayyad applauded the latest good-will decision by Israel’s cabinet, calling it a “victory for the Palestinian people”. He was referring to Sunday’s cabinet decision to release 200 terrorists and security prisoners from Israeli prisons.
Hamas on the other hand has a different view of the events, with Dr. Sami Abu Zohari explaining the decision by Israel’s cabinet stems from Jerusalem’s desire to widen the chasm between Fatah and Hamas factions, seemingly acting towards complying with the wishes of Fatah Prime Minister Abu Mazen.
Hamas officials stated they are well aware of Israel’s true intentions and they are not too concerned over the new developments.
