HaGaon HaRav Avigdor Nebenzahl traveled to IDF bases on Wednesday in order to be mechazeik them, Arutz Sheva reported.

One of the bases HaRav Nebenzahl, 90, visited was Tze’elim, where thousands of religious soldiers are based and gathered in the shul to hear dizrei chizzuk.

The Rav spoke words of chizzuk and davened for each soldier and for the captives to be returned. The Rav also davened that the IDF would defeat Hamas and even quoted the passuk from Yeshaya: ‘לֹא יִשָּׁמַע עוֹד חָמָס בְּאַרְצֵךְ שֹׁד וָשֶׁבֶר בִּגְבוּלָיִךְ וְקָרָאת יְשׁוּעָה חוֹמֹתַיִךְ וּשְׁעָרַיִךְ תְּהִלָּה.’

The Rav added that “there’s hashgacha on every little detail but there’s a special hashgacha during war and like the Gemara says: “ומלחמות אני עשיתי שנאמר ד’ איש מלחמה!” – to be mechazeik b’Torah, in tefillah and in shemiras halashon.”

In conclusion, the Rav said that “despite the fact that the soldiers are combat soldiers, they have a constant connection with the ‘homefront command’  (‘פיקוד העורף’) – the kesher of the tefillin that you place on the עורף..”
