A rocket barrage launched from Gaza at the city of Sderot late Thursday morning resulted in the critical and serious injuries of five of the city’s residents.
Seven rocket hits were found after the barrage and several buildings sustained direct hits. At one site, one was critically injured, one was seriously injured, and one was moderately injured, and at another site, one was critically injured and one was seriously injured.
The mayor of the beleaguered city, Alon Davidi, appealed to the government to aid him in evacuating the city’s residents.
Sderot, which even during “routine” times, suffers from constant rockets due to it being located only one kilometer (0.62 miles) from the Gaza Strip, suffered heavy losses during the Hamas assault, with numerous residents murdered as well as 20 police officers after Hamas terrorists raided the local police station. However, unlike the Gaza border communities, its residents have not been evacuated.
There are over 30,000 people living in Sderot.
