The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that Iran has assisted the Hamas terror group in planning its unprecedented attack on Israel for weeks.

The report, which quotes senior members of the Hamas and Hezbollah terror groups, says that the plans have been in the works since August.

Members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp participated in several meetings held in Beirut about the plans for the attack and Iran approved the mass assault in a meeting last Monday.

The meetings were attended by the IRGC officers and representatives of four Iranian-based terror groups, including Hamas and Hezbollah.

A senior Israeli official told the press on Monday that Israel has information indicating that Iran urged Hamas to carry out the unprecedented attack on Israel and it is also pressuring Hezbollah to prepare for a conflict with Israel

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that the US hasn’t seen evidence of Iran’s involvement in the attack. However, according to the WSJ report, a European official and an adviser to the Syrian government confirmed the report of Iran’s involvement in planning the attack.
