Israel Police on Wednesday arrested a Palestinian resident of the Gaza Strip armed with a foot-long knife at the Savidor train station in Tel Aviv.

The suspect, a 35-year-old from Jabaliya with a permit to work in Israel, had tried to conceal the knife he was carrying by rolling it up in clothing and placing it in a bag.

However, security guards at the entrance to the station spotted the knife in the X-ray security scanner and called the police.

The suspect was transferred to the Tel Aviv station for questioning.
