Former senior Channel 2 official Shalom Kital was appointed special media advisor to Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Monday.
Kital’s job description is defined as addressing between the Defense Ministry and the public as well as political issues that pertain to Barak’s cabinet portfolio.
Some of the items on the new advisor’s agenda are dealing with the problems of residents of the Gaza seamline communities, and the Tal Law which addresses deferments for yeshiva students seeking to push off IDF service.
Kital is a veteran journalist and among the founders of Channel 2 TV in 1995. He was appointed director-general of Channel 2, a post that he left about a year ago.
